Box Score Bullets

Introducing my newest feature to this blog, Box Score Bullets! Wanna know some random facts about tonight's games that can only be gleaned from box scores? Check here first!

1. Alonzo Mourning is out, yet Mark Blount does not crack the rotation. Miami rolls 8 deep and beat the Jazz, who are treading water at this point.

2. The Timberwolves, playing with McCants and Jaric out (flu), get torched by the Hornets. When Gerald Green logs 30+ mins., this is what happens.

3. Roger Mason (who?) of the Wizards logs 42 minutes. Blatche cannot beat out Songalia for minutes, getting 13 to Darius's 35. Jermaine O'Neal and Troy Murphy get the "big man" minutes and cannot keep the Wizards off the boards. Paging Jeff Foster....

4. J-Kidd gets another triple-double, Sean Williams plays 11 minutes for 5 boards and 3 blocks, Vince turns the ball over 9 times. Golden State essentially runs 7 deep and finishes with a 1:1 AST/TO ratio.

5. Andre Miller gets 29 points, and Memphis continues to look great on paper. No minutes for Conley or Warrick, instead letting Stoudamire play 35 and Gasol, Gay, and Miller play 40+ each. Philly win, duh.

6. For the record, I can't figure out the Bulls either, but if 7 Rockets players are in double figures, that's not good. Plus/minus: Gordon was the worst at -23, Bonzi Wells the best at +26. Defensive liability? Plus, Tyrus Thomas only gets 6 minutes?

7. Yi goes 14-17 from the field, while Charlie Bell plays 32 minutes without a shot?? Good to see a pecking order developing, right? Perfect since they have no bench. Meanwhile, those poor Bobcats...imagine this lineup with Dwight Howard instead of Okafor and weep. And don't pretend like Mays and Morrison could help, because they won't.

8. Richie Frahm gets 25 minutes: ouch. I'd cheer for this team if they had Maggette, Livingston, and Brand back, but at least Thornton gets to learn the ropes. Clips only had 8 TOs against the Spurs, which is either a good sign, or a sign that they're too conservative.

9. Too bad about TJ's injury - the Raptors are the poor man's Suns, and without TJ they are missing their Nash. A DNP for Raja, and Marcus Banks has a +/- of -1 in a 19-point win. Meanwhile, Bosh goes 22-24 from the line, while no other Raptor shoots more than 2 FTs, and a seemingly good matchup (Moon) gets only 13 minutes. Bargnani gets 3 boards in 30 minutes.

The Celtics are a defensive team

No, really. The Celtics are defensive juggernaut. You know who's right up there with New York for being bad defensively? My Timberwolves.
